The Group business policy is mainly to facilitate its mission of providing superior products and reliable services in an ethical way through our highly-motivated team to create value for our customer. These can be achieved through:

       •  adopting an efficient management system;
       •  investing in reliable machineries and port management system;
       •  increasing staff efficiency and productivity;
       •  implementing an organized working system especially at the various port levels;
       •  implementation of “5S” system of work; and
       •  implementation of the electronic based Sabah Ports Management System (SPMS).

Fully operational since June 2007, Sapangar Bay Container Port (SBCP) is the latest addition to the seven (7) ports acquired by SURIA. Officially launched on the 29 January 2008, SBCP will generate increased cargo activities, in line with the Sabah Development Corridor plan, in regards to its planned function as a domestic hub for containerized cargo. It is expected that the newly built port will also heighten transhipment activities owing to the port's strategic location and state of the art handling equipment.


Safety and Health


The Group is committed to introduce and implement Safety and Health measures at its Ports by setting-up a Health, Safety and Environment Department when it took over the operation of the Ports on 1 September 2004.

The Group will strive to prevent all accidents, injuries and occupational illness through the active participation of every employee. SURIA is committed to continuous efforts to identify and eliminate or manage safety risk associated with its activities especially its core business. To realize the polic, the Group shall observe the following:

       Install and maintain facilities, establish Port Health, Safety and Environment Management System, provide training and conduct operations in a manner that safeguards people, property and environment.
       Respond quickly, effectively and with care to emergencies or accidents resulting from its operations, in co-operation with authorized government agencies and continuously review its emergency plan.
       Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, apply responsible standards, code of practices and best practices where laws and regulations do not exist.
       Emphasise to all employees, contractors and others working on its behalf of their responsibility and accountability for safe performance and encourage safe behavior whilst at work.
       Continually evaluate and review our operations.


Quality


The Group is fully committed to provide superior products and reliable services to its customer. In 2007, the Group's subsidiary; SCHB Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd. had been awarded the MS ISO 9001:2000 certification. By the following year Sabah Ports Sdn.Bhd. also received its MS ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.
